There is a reference to the availability, in Japanese, to a 720cc upgrade kit for the 668 from Desmo, a Laverda dealership in Hiroshima.  This appears to include new pistons and rings, and requires the existing nikasil liners to be rebored, thus losing the su[pposed long wearingadvantages of the nikasil lining.  That said, it may be a valid alternative to the factory upgrade kit, and possibly also a useful increase in power.
